Stadsfotograaf – Sltrtd en MAS Antwerpen
Stadsfotograaf / City photographer
Curator Kaat Celis (Sluitertijd – Visueel Projectbureau, based in Antwerp) asked me to assist her in creating and organising an exhibition on the city photographers of Antwerp. The exhibition is made for MAS, Museum aan de Stroom in Antwerp, and on show from april 2017 – 2018 in in the ‘Wandelboulevard’, following the escalators up to the 9th floor.
In the exhibition fifteen very different photographers present works that they submitted for the project ‘Stadsfotograaf Antwerpen’, which was founded by Roger Smulewicz of Gallery Fifty One in 2011. The exhibition City Photographer is a visual love letter for Antwerp, an associative narrative on the love-hate relations with the city from a photographer’s point of view. Different periods, places and styles are brought together on eight floors under eight emotions, showing Antwerp from an unusual perspective.
Participating photographers: David Ameye, Jef Beirinckx, Karin Borghouts, Frederik Buyckx, Sanne De Wilde, Jasper Léonard, Charlotte Lybeer, Sigrid Spinnox, Davy Van Laere, Stany Dederen, Sacha Jennis, Dieter De Lathauwer, Myriam Vertenten, Lara Dhondt and Ksenia Galiaeva.
